After the ceremony last night, WB and I had a date. Imagine that! Normally such an event brings us to Brian's Bistro or to the Sunday River Brew Pub, but neither of those felt right: Irving's Truck Stop, however, was the perfect. We arrived to a full house, forgetting it was the Friday Night All You Can Eat Fish Fry. Hanging in a truck stop eating fried fish and warmed toll house pie is exactly what you should do after putting on a Carthage based AltEd graduation.

Hey, what do you mean "Carthage based?" Just kidding!! :) I stumble upon your blog every now and again. Today happened to one of those times. I love what you do with these young adults. I can remember the years of struggle one of my brothers had in 'regular' school...he would have thrived in AltEd had it existed 'back in the day'. Instead, he struggled in a major way. You're a keep for our kids that's for sure! :)

It was a trip back to my roots. And it's always cool to walk into Irving and see the same faces you saw twenty years ago. It's like a living time capsule...with vinyl booths!
We just saw your ma and pa- in- law at the China Dina. Did Dave ever go there as a young'n?
I don't know how long they've been going there, but until their house burned down we only saw them here, or at Dicks or the China Dina. Some days just walking in makes me scan the room for them.
The Music Man and I went on "date night" the Friday before I left for Texas to the Bistro. Well, we saw like half of the MSAD #21 staff there, at with Hal and Martha and had a wonderful time. Always seem to forget about the Bistro and get take out Chinese from the place in Jay. (FYI, if you haven't had the food from the Chinese restaurant in Jay it is a must. We think it is the same family that used to own the one in Dixfield - the restaurants look exactly the same).
One of my favorite places. I have memories connected to that place ranging from final exam study breaks at 2 a.m. to showing upfor dinner to announce to my friends that I was pregnant with Thing 1 to having my life threatened by 2 burly men brandishing baseball bats. Ah, Maine trucker culture at its finest.
They also will let you order just mashes potatoes with dinner rolls, which just happens to be my favorite thing to order. :)
